This piece was inspired by my time volunteering at health fairs for underprivileged Bay Area residents, where I witnessed the ties between socioeconomic class and health. Here, the cookies represent the randomness of being born into a given socioeconomic class, and the fortune within is the associated element of chance in health outcomes.
