The white cotton saree represents my grandmother's attire in India. My mother, a second-generation immigrant, wears colorful silk sarees, like the purple, but only formally. While with time and migration, some family traditions may be lost, others find life in novel ways. This installation shapes sarees in a double helix to explore how women in my family adapted traditions to integrate into new lives and inspire me to do the same.
