During a research program, I learned about the connection between the brain and the heart. Spreading depolarization is the largest amount of energy used by a live tissue and this generally only happens during or after a cardiac arrest. This piece depicts the impact of the heart on the brain: it keeps the brain alive, literally and emotionally.
