This piece was commissioned by a UCSF Genetics Professor as a prospective cover for the Cell Stem Cell research journal. I was asked to depict the team’s research, which dealt with stem cells located in the intestine, in a playful, cartoonish manner. I worked as a graphic designer on a team that drafted several iterations to come up with this digital illustration. We settled on representing the research discoveries in the form of a rollercoaster traveling through the villi and crypts of the small intestine.
